It was built at the
end of the reign of Philippe Auguste and is the perfect example
of the strong castles which succedèrent with the fortresses
of the Average age. It does not remain any more with the castle
but the imposing postern which defended the principal entry, the
walls and the turns of enclosure. However, the situation of this
castle at the top of a rock piton, and the importance of these vestiges
confer on the unit an impressive majesty. It dominates the low city
built around the superb sources of Druyes.
