Colette Gouvion summed up perfectly the especial atmosphere which pervades Puivert when she wrote most beautifully in “Chateaux et sites du Moyen Age” : “In the Languedoc there are chateaux that cry out. But Puivert sings”. Time there seems to have stopped : the master of the house will doubtless be back unexpectedly from a never-ending hunting party; valets and servants will then lay the tables dressed with fine food and wine; and troubadours’ gentle voices will resound once again below the old vaults of the keep.
