The castle of Portes is not where it is by chance. On the collar of Portes, the building classified historic building, watched for the old way known as of Régordane which the pilgrims of Saint-Gilles and the cross ones borrowed walking on towards the Holy Land. The way of Régordane is a section of a very old road linking Auvergne in the Mediterranean and the port of Saint-Gilles of Gard. Sanctuary of the Christian world in XIIe century.

The castle is open all days :

- of Easter to July 1 and 3rd Sunday of September to All Saints' day saturdays, Sundays and public holidays of 14h at 19h
- In July and August, all days (except Monday) of 9h at 12h and 15h at 20h

And all the year, on reservation for the groups (10 people).
