The lords of the
Rock-Guyon are attested as of the end of XIe century. The situation
of their stronghold, at the border between the principality of the
duke of Normandy and the grounds of king de France, enabled them
to exploit a long time the competitions between these two powerful
lords to guarantee their independence. GUI of the Rock ends up definitively
joining the party of Philippe Auguste about 1200.
