Sagonne Castle

Click on one of the headings below :

  1. History of the castle
  2. Photo Gallery

The castle of Sagonne was inhabited by the counts de Sancerre, Amboise, then by Gabrielle d' Estrées and Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the architect of the castle of Versailles. It is separated from a medieval village by an enclosure and ditches. The enormous keep shelters a vault and two rooms with painted decoration. Weapons and memories of those which remained with the castle of Sagonne are presented.

Casteland.com particularly thanks the owners for the castle for the photographs as well as the information on this one.
